"Country Bob" Edson created the recipe in 1968 and began selling it in 1977. Now they have a whole line of sauces and seasonings.
The All Purpose Sauce is not exactly a barbecue sauce, although barbecue is one of the suggested applications. The first suggested application - steak - is more apropos. It's more like steak sauce than anything else, but a little thicker and sweeter. It tastes like two parts A-1 and one part sweet barbecue sauce. I think it'd be kind of overpowering on barbecue, but would work pretty well as a dipping sauce for some kind of something.
Grade: B
