golden rule in hoover...but only the original in hoover, not the chain locations.Also, jim-n-nicks is also good.
I can't speak for certain on bbq in Birmingham, but if you have time Tuscaloosa is about 45 mins to an hour away and they have the original Dreamland and Archibald's. Just stay away from the franchised Dreamland locations.
